Best practice to handle racism complaints at Australian Universities
ABOUT OUR WORK
Our mission is to tackle the complex issue of racism by understanding its challenges and crafting solutions.
Join us on this empowering adventure to create campuses that celebrate diversity and inclusion. We aim to:
Examine relevant institutional policy, procedures and racism-related conflict resolution approaches.
Chart the different forms and impacts of racism experienced by international students.
Identify potential gaps between students’ expectations and institutional responses to racism complaints.
Develop a toolkit containing resources and recommendations that advise universities to a) develop proper reporting systems and b) strategic frameworks to eliminate racism.

Embarking on a journey to shed light on the experiences of Chinese international students in Australian universities, we invite all international students with Chinese backgrounds, who are either enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 6 months of graduation) a university in Victoria, to share your stories with us.
Our project seeks to understand the nuances of racism, your interactions with reporting systems, and how universities respond to your concerns. We're collaborating with student associations, social clubs, and community services supporting Chinese international students to ensure a broad perspective. Our study consists of two parts:
an online survey <start the survey now>
several focus groups
As a token of appreciation, participants in our survey will have a chance to win 1 of 12 $250 supermarket gift cards!!
All focus group participants will receive a $50 Coles gift card each.
Your insights are not only valuable but essential in shaping a more inclusive and supportive university environment. Join us in making a positive impact – your voice matters!!
